Anyone have info on the upcoming Punisher Sequel?
I saw the Punisher Skull at a theater recently and it said December 2008.

I haven't updated in a while because…well, frankly there hasn't been anything to update. Until now. I'm sure we all know by now that Thomas Jane is out. Chalk it up to creative differences. So we have a relatively unknown Ray Stevenson filling the role of our favorite vigilante. Stevenson has served as background for a few movies, but never really gave a memorable performance. The same can be said for Jane pre-Punisher, so I'm willing to give Stevenson the benefit of the doubt. Besides, I'd much rather a cast of unknowns verses the, "let's see how many over-paid, A-list celebs we can stuff into one flick", ten pounds of crap in a five pound bag, fiasco that Batman and Robin turned out to be.

We also have a new director for the newest Punisher installment. Now this is a bit of news I'm actually excited about. A female director. But this isn't your average, run-of-the-mill, sunshine and lollipops, "lets make a feel-good movie" type female director. This chick kicks ass! Lexi Alexander is a German-born, former World Karate Kickboxing Champion, and martial arts instructor. The way I see it, she has a lot to bring to the table when it comes to directing an action movie. In an interview she did with Superhero Hype! she explains that this film will have a much darker, more "comic book" feel to it than the previous Punisher renditions and carries with it a very strong "R" rating. When ask if this would be a sequel to the 2004 Punisher movie, Alexander insisted that "War Zone" is more of a reboot, in that, they didn't want to build off of, or try to out-do the 2004 or the 1989 versions.

Stevenson is joined by the British born stage and screen actor, Dominic West, who is portraying Castle's long-time rival, "Jigsaw". The one casting that I'm not at all enthused about, is Wayne Knight, who amply fills the role of Linus Liberman, AKA. Microchip. You may remember Knight as the stubby, chubby, mailman from Seinfeld. (Gag!)

New writer, new director, new cast, new film, new Punisher skull…what am I forgetting? Oh! Pictures! Since IMDB has listed the film as being in post-production, there are finally some film images beginning to trickle out; and I have them.

Forget About A Sequel To The Punisher...It Ain't Happening Now
I took this from comicbookmovies

Thomas Jane leaves The Punisher 2

I'm sure you're all aware that The Punisher 2 has not exactly had an easy life cycle. It's ALMOST gone before the cameras like two or three times before undergoing extensive rewrites over and over, losing its original writer/director, etc.

Well, now I think it may have finally seen its death knell — Thomas Jane has jumped ship.

Here's the e-mail he sent in to "Quint" over at Ain't It Cool News:

I’m writing to tell you that I regretfully and painfully had to pull out of P2. I can’t tell you how completely broken up I am about it. After busting my ass at the gym four days a week for almost two years, watching every character driven action pic that any fan would ask me to watch while I was standing in line buying egg whites and Tuna fish (Leon the Professional, Oldboy, The Seven-Ups (GREAT flick), Point Blank, Escape from NY, The Driver, Magnum Force, The Mechanic, The Great Silence, Sexy Beast, Nighthawks, Cry Vengeance (check it out), Road Warrior, Man on Fire, Outlaw Josey Wales, Rocky (think about it!), Serpico, etc etc etc.) after countless Saturday nights making notes and drinking soda water and munching on seaweed sticks while my daughter slept on my lap to the sound of automatic gunfire, (now she can’t sleep without it. I had to make a tape of automatic gunfire to play in her room at night!) after hauling myself to any ‘Guns! Knifes! Ammo!’ show in any small town that I found myself in shooting Killshot or The Mist or Mutant Chronicles, after torn ligaments, screwed up rotator cuffs, thousands of $$$ on ridiculously huge vitamins, overly long conversations with frighteningly tall men about The Fastest Way To Kill Someone With Your Bare Hands, and after a dude refused to sell me a Fatburger at 2am on Santa Monica Blvd, I am, sadly – no, make that heartbrokenly – fuck it - just rip out the heart and stomp it into the pavement a couple of times – pulling out. Punisher fans are already fighting an uphill battle as it is. And I’ve always felt a responsibility to fight that fight for them and with them so that Frank Castle gets the treatment he deserves.

I'm sharing this with you first because I know you're a fan like me, and you've got your ear to the ground, and because we seem to share the same sort of taste and passion when it comes to movies and the stories that get us off. What I won't do is spend months of my life sweating over a movie that I just don't believe in. I’ve always loved the Marvel guys, and wish them well. Meanwhile, I’ll continue to search for a film that one day might stand with all those films that the fans have asked me to watch.

The Punisher Extended Cut DVD
Wow...it looks like this community's been on the low for a long time.

Well anyways, has anyone seen the new extended cut of The Punisher 2004 movie? My girlfriend got it for me for my birthday, and when I saw it, it felt sooo different than the theatrical version. Personally, I think the extended cut is WAY better. I don't know why they cut out the whole story line with Jimmy weeks, it made the story feel so much more darker, and more watchable actually. I always felt like (in the theatrical version) like the story felt, "under-cooked" or just putting it plainly, half-assed. With the Jimmy Weeks story line in there, it definately is much better.
What did you guys think about it?

I've been runnin' a little behind on my comics collection lately. They are doing the Barracuda series right now in The Punisher MAX comics, and They have started something called Bloody Valentine in the regular Marvel version of The Punisher.

can someone tell me how many issues are they into Barracuda? Geez, I really got to hit up The Core soon.

I have issues 1,2 and 4 of The Slavers, but then I couldn't get ahold of the rest of them. So I bought the graphic novel of it, so I could at least have the whole series. The guy who runs The Core in my town is a dick. He wouldn't order back issues that I'd missed. What do I gotta do to get comics?!!! Become a vigilante myself?

Marvel Or Max?
I have a question. Why is The Punisher stamped as Marvel comics, yet on the covers of the comics, it says Max Comics? I really don't know.

I wonder what The Punisher and Batman would be fighting about? Perhaps Batman saw The Punisher the same way Spider-man did?

The Punisher 2 Is Not Filming This Summer
Punisher 2 Not Filming This Summer?
Thomas Jane says the producers are still looking for the right script.

Despite word that Punisher 2 might be going before cameras as early as this summer, the film's star says that's not likely.

On Thomas Jane's fan site (ThomasJane.com) the following exchange was posted:

Q: Can you confirm (or even speculate) that Punisher 2 will start filming in the summer? I'm just asking because a fan who met you while you were shooting Killshot mentioned that you said the P2 shoot would start this summer.

A: Not anymore! P2 is still looking for a good story at this point. We're working on it, and hope to have a script by the fall.

More of the Q&A can be found here.

Bob Gough

That sucks, huh? I heard it was filming this summer. I guess not anymore.

Hi, I just joined. I'm a fan of the new The Punisher movie and I think the comic art is great and I'd like to get my hands on Dolph's version of the movie someday.

Maybe this post will bring some life into the community? :D

Okay, everyone knows that in the politically correct world of comics, nearly every time Frank vs. Peter, Spider-man (the hero) bests the Punisher (the anti-hero).

But I want to take the battle away from the comics and drop it into the movie world. Who do you think would come out on top when it comes to “move” Punisher vs. “movie” Spider-man?

Be sure to tell us why, or be creative and give us a blow by blow.

I thought I’d open things up with a little introduction. No one is required to do it, but I think it helps to give a little insight on who’s in our community.

My name is Valag; I’m a business owner and an avid Punisher fan. I never really got into any other books. I guess it’s because I relate to the hard justice that the Punisher delivers. In a world where so many criminals get off because some lawyer is able to suppress evidence, or use some obscure loophole. What other title could compare to that?

My first exposure to the Punisher was in 1992. I was at a friend’s house where I picked up the 101st issue of Marvel Comics Presents. The story line just blew me away. From there I was hooked. I spent entire paychecks at the comic shops collecting back issues and then I would spend the whole next week at school reading them. My only goal in life was to read every issue, every appearance, and every panel that features the Punisher. After a little more than a year I successfully collected every series issue of the Punisher, Punisher Armory, Punisher War Zone, specials, one shots, mini-series, and guest appearances. The only thing left was the Holy Grail itself; the one issue that would complete my collection. Amazing Spider-Man #129. It cost me $200 but it was worth it.

Today my collection has expanded into everything from marbles to car accessories. Basically anything I’ve ever found with the Punisher logo on it.
